Research Module 5:
Urban System

The main research responsibilities for Research Module 5 are the analysis and projections of actor constellations and spatial patterns of urban systems related to heat stress.

Research Module 5 consists of two sub-projects:

5.1 Constellations

  • Representation of heat stress in governance systems.
  • Options for reducing heat stress by urban and environmental planning.
  • Requirements for modifications of regulatory systems.
  • Addressing promising constellations for tackling urban heat stress.

5.2 Urban patterns

  • Integration of the influence of urban heat stress in a landscape modelling approach.
  • Linkage of qualitative scenarios of spatial development with quantitative ecological models to reduce heat-stress risks.
